Just a couple of Q&A points:
Q: Why don't I post show times on my website?
Quick answer: "law of diminishing returns".
A: I have been doing this a looooong time. I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the shows I have been to that have consistently started at the advertised time. It almost never happens. I have seen karaoke show ads in my group and websites that list karaoke at XX time but when I call the venue they tell me a different time. Not even those involved agree. Then there are football game nights.....and not enough singers to start yet.....and playing DJ music instead of karaoke for the first hour.....and whatever other "reasons".
Stated show times are rarely if ever accurate.
If it does start "on time" though.....what does it matter really if it's listed on my site? People are going to call the place or confirm with a secondary source before they go……right? I even confirm them myself when I go out even unless I have spoken to someone that is authoritative on the show. I do have a flag option for an “Early Show” which is defined as a show starting no later than 7:30. That really just divides shows up into “I have to work tomorrow” and “no, I don’t have to work tomorrow” groups.
So…..although I wouldn’t mind having times listed, unless they are accurate what good are they?
Q: why can’t I edit my shows anymore?
A: Thank some of your fellow KJ’s!
Despite the fact I have it posted right in the instructions (http://www.karaokeacrossamerica.com/karaoke-shows/how-to) as well as having said it multiple times in my group, we still have people trying to change an existing show into a new one in an attempt to get rid of the old entry when they lose the gig.
You can’t do that. Not only is it against the rules, but my site tracks the change. You can’t do this without me knowing so please stop doing it! It doesn’t get rid of the gig….it just creates more work for me when I fix what you tried to hide. If you get a NEW gig add a NEW entry! Don’t try to change one of the other entries in a feeble attempt to get rid of the old show. Sorry you lost the gig, but this happens all the time in the karaoke world. Next time it may be you GETTING a gig so remember that when it comes to show entries. If the guy before you does this then YOU won’t get the traffic. Think about it….
So…….I disabled the ability to edit shows until further notice. If you need an update either email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or PM me on Facebook. You can still add shows without an issue. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
